A “Barfly Baptism”…Only in Oslo

Barfly

The martini-shaped neon sign out front was all it took to get me in the door of Barfly. With seating ranging from low tables to horseshoe-shaped booths and the constant sound of cocktail shakers, this unassuming little neighborhood joint has the air of a cool 70s cocktail lounge, but without Bill Murray crooning Star Wars à la 70s Saturday Night Live.  It has also managed to snag the best bartenders in town and has created an extensive drinks menu that includes both classic and contemporary cocktails, as well as a wide range of beers, spirits, & liqueurs. If you’re feeling a classic cocktail vibe, try the Brandy Alexander, but if you want something a little more along the contemporary “mixology” line, order the Ibblekauga, an infusion of apple liqueur, apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon.  If you’re feeling a little edgy, though, start your night with high octane Barfly Baptism…nothing like jumpin’ in feet first!
