“The Trip to Panama” Inspires a Restaurant…


Being a bohemian wanderer, I love the intersection of a restaurant concept and a book of travel – that imagined feeling of being somewhere exotic and foreign while sampling a fusion of flavors from a region and a reality. Inspired by a famous children’s book, The Trip to Panama, this experience can now be found in the heart of Berlin at Panama, the most recent project of the Contemporary Food Lab. Taking their cue from traditional German dishes and adding elements of Mediterranean and Latin American cuisine, founder Ludwig Cramer-Klett and his chefs offer a menu that incorporates aspects of both the raw tradition and contemporary cooking techniques. Presented in an environment whose infusion of rattan, bright colors, and tropical plants evokes old Panama, the food and drink will whisk diners away to a bygone era of cool…
